Open cell aluminum foam is an excellent heat transfer medium under forced convection. It can be used as a heat sink for high density heat flow. Colleagues, foam aluminum has low thermal conductivity and good heat resistance and flame retardancy. An ideal high aspect ratio material with open cell aluminum foam has a surface area ratio of 2000-10000m2/m3, much higher than that of metal finned heat exchangers (face to body ratio less than 10002/m3), so it is suitable for compact heat exchangers. In addition, the high thermal conductivity and high specific surface area of super light open cell aluminum foam can also be directly used as the heat transfer surface of forced convection. The structural advantages of its three-dimensional network can provide an enhancement means for phase change heat transfer medium.
