Thermal forming is a procedure for forming thermoplastic materials. these processes often use special aluminum die. Porous metals are increasingly being used for these purposes. Porous aluminium is ideal for the production of foam and thermal forming.
- fully permeable
- aluminium is a very good heat dissipation metal and ensures the rapid cooling of the tool thus;
- thanks, high strength cast structure, the long lifetime of the form porous aluminum.

foam aluminum for plastic thermoforming moulds

Compared to traditional aluminium die mould:

1) complex forms mould can be made

Due to uniform distribution of pores in porous aluminium and its permeability in all directions, it is possible to produce the most complex forms without limitations.

2) Uniform distribution of vacuum / steam

The surface of the porous aluminum is about 50% of the pores. this ensures a perfectly smooth supply of vacuum or steam at any point. thereby, the homogeneity of the properties of the foam aluminum is very high in comparison to the use of relatively rare and channels for vacuum and steam.

3) Half of the weight (density 1.35 and 1.2 g / cm3)
The low weight of porous aluminum facilitates the production of mild forms of foam. The whole design is greatly simplified, and the weight is reduced and, therefore, there are no tubes / pipes for the supply of vacuum or steam is necessary.

4) Half of the heat capacity
5) Rapid prototyping from prefabricated blocks
6) Temperature between 250℃ and 550 ℃.
Porous aluminium is a cast material, it may also be used at high temperatures.
